SaveOurChildren, a significant portal for raising awareness about child sex trafficking and exploitation in the U.S., is a platform we are deeply committed to helping. The objective is clear: to revitalize the website, enhancing its effectiveness as a tool to educate, advocate, and support. We envision a site that not only communicates the severity of the issue but also empowers individuals to contribute towards the resolution of this grave problem.
Case Study:
As I browsed through the somber statistics and stories on SaveOurChildren, the gravity of the mission struck me. I felt a deep-rooted desire to contribute, to help amplify the voices of the unheard victims, and to advocate for the safety of our children. The responsibility of overhauling a website of such significance wasn't something I took lightly. It needed an approach that was as sensitive as it was strategic.
Solution:
The vision translated into a mission to revamp SaveOurChildren. We sought to enhance its functionality, making it more accessible and user-friendly, while also giving it an empathetic design that would touch the hearts of its visitors. We aimed to facilitate easier access to resources, promote survivor stories, and provide avenues for the public to contribute, be it through donations, volunteering, or advocating for stronger laws.
Design Process & Struggles:
Our design journey commenced with the aim of creating an intuitive, engaging, and emotional interface. We used Figma to design a layout that's not only easy to navigate but also visually impactful.
One of our primary struggles was dealing with the sensitive nature of the content while keeping the user experience at the forefront. We aimed to strike a balance between communicating the harsh realities and keeping the user engagement positive and action-oriented.
Another challenge was ensuring the credibility and accuracy of the resources provided. We assembled a dedicated team to oversee this aspect, validating resources and ensuring the website serves as a reliable hub of information.
Collaboration tools like Slack and Notion were invaluable in keeping the team connected, focused, and aligned with the project's objectives, given the emotionally charged nature of the task at hand.
Despite the challenges, the journey has been profoundly meaningful. As we approach the launch of the revised SaveOurChildren, we anticipate it will serve as a more powerful platform in the fight against child trafficking and exploitation, rallying more public support and making a significant difference in the lives of survivors.
The mission of SaveOurChildren and our role in revamping it embodies the power of digital platforms in making substantial social changes. It's a mission that goes beyond mere web design - it's about empowering change and making the world a safer place for our children.
